productive creativity, it has been said, is in knowing when to stop working on something and let it sit for a while. once again, i have stepped away from the project i went to NYC to record. i am completely overwhelmed by the amount of work that is still required to get everything to feel like i want it to feel.
may is metal month on vh1 and have been watching a lot of the documentaries on the early hard rock bands that shape my early influences: cream, led zepplin, et cetera. i could go on and on listing bands. i have been playing acoustic and venturing more on the side of early rock/blues. there is something very ominous in the blues progressions. mars volta continually comes to mind when i think of modern blues for some reason.
i recently stumbled onto the title of the next cynic theory project. the material for the cynic theory is coming along a lot more naturally than any of my other projects because it is a bit more familiar territory.the idea of finishing the material i set aside for this project was not something i had intended on undertaking anytime soon, but, after finishing the book age of innocence by edith wharton, i feel compelled to do so. “wishyouwereher” is the title and it will explore the themes that have eluded me for years: self-doubt, misconceptions, and naiveté to name a few.
the last year has been very hard for me and i assume things will start to get a little easier. more later_

ithaca has been both up and down. really good time and a remembrance of good times gone bad… all due to simple deception.. oh well, i love everyone. congratulations to all the recent grads. there are definitely those i wish i could have seen… (for more than a few sleepless hours). ill post when im better.

truth, deception, lies, and the eye of wisdom
the high school track season is just about over with and i have started to shift my focus back to music, working more and more on my yet-to-be-titled project. the writing process is just about done for the music and i will be stepping into a New York recording studio late next week to track drums and possibly some guitar. happily, the music i have produced is slowly starting to resemble what i want it to sound like, what i hear in my head.
a lot has yet to be done. drums, bass, and guitar still need to be tracked. lyrics are still in the writing process. i can forsee there being a lot of post production work… not to mention mixing and mastering.
on the art direction side, i have some ideas that i have been toying with. generally, the themes of truth, deception, lies, and the eye of wisdom are frequented often.

The Smashing Pumpkins have officially reunited. According to the Smashing Pumpkins Web site, “It’s official. The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000.”

It was only a matter of time before the album was leaked, as the release date for the bands follow-up to 2001′s multi-platinum Lateralus. Five years ago, Lateralus debuted at Billboard #1 album.
